As a small, independent Residential Care Home, The Lawns in Brixton, Plymouth, is run by a husband-and-wife team, Sam Burdekin (Registered Manager) and Lucie Burdekin (Deputy Manager), who strive to deliver truly person-centred care for all of our residents.

Making the decision to move into a Residential Care Home can be incredibly difficult and overwhelming. Rest assured, we will work closely with you and your family/significant others to tailor our care to your individual needs, from short-term Respite Care or full-time Nursing Care through to End-of-Life & Palliative Care. With a focus on comfort, we’re here to support and care for people from all walks of life as they grow older, including those with Dementia, Parkinson’s, Stroke, and Motor Neurone Disease.
As a team, we take pride in caring for our residents as we would our own family. Our care planning process captures all the small details, in addition to health and well-being. A care plan will be completed by the management team, in collaboration with you/your relatives/significant others.
Throughout this process, we cover essential care and health needs, but also important information such as how someone likes their cup of tea or coffee. We ask if there are any special food options or snacks that we can order in, or how we can make your bedroom feel like home.
Personalised Nursing & Residential Care for Those in Need
We encourage bedrooms to have personal photos and artwork, and tailor the space to the person. Important details are taken, such as music tastes and preferred activities, so we can create playlists for your bedroom and develop a plan that suits your interests.
Working closely with the District & Community Nursing team allows us to care for those with underlying health conditions. They can come in and administer insulin, manage catheter changes, change dressings or take observations. Our dedicated Nursing team is also always on hand. They collaborate with all healthcare professionals to ensure every resident receives the care they need, including the Occupational Therapy (OT) team, Physiotherapy, and Speech and Language Therapy (SALT).
