At The Lawns, we have a wealth of experience in providing the highest-quality End-of-Life (EOL) and Palliative Care in Devon. We share Dame Cicely Saunders’ ethos and value helping our residents pass away peacefully, comfortably, and in a homely environment.
Advanced Care Planning (ACP) discussions are essential to our end-of-life approach. Our managers, Sam Burdekin and Lucie Burdekin, carry out these conversations with residents and their loved ones to ensure a clear understanding of their wishes and to maintain a supportive, calming environment for their final days.
St Luke’s Six Steps EOL Care Home
The Lawns is working towards accreditation as a St Luke’s Hospice Six Steps Care Home. Three members of our nursing team, including Sam Burdekin, Registered Manager, have completed the Six Steps End of Life Care programme with St Luke’s Hospice and now serve as EOL Champions. You can learn more about the Six Steps Programme on their website. St Luke’s offers high-quality end-of-life care and support both in the community and at their hospice facility.
The Six Steps + Programme consists of workshops created by the St Luke’s education team. It provides a toolkit for Care Homes like ours and agencies delivering palliative care, helping us adhere to best practices and meet CQC (Care Quality Commission) standards. As EOL Care Champions, we are dedicated to sharing our expertise with peers and colleagues.
