About The Lawns Nursing & Residential Home
Run by the husband-and-wife team of Sam Burdekin (Registered Manager) and Lucie Burdekin (Deputy Manager), The Lawns is a small, independent Nursing & Residential Care Home located in the tranquil village of Brixton, Plymouth. We offer individual care plans, specifically designed to meet each of our residents’ needs, so you remain in full control of every aspect of your daily routine.
Rest assured, our cosy Care Home in Devon has full accreditation to provide care for adults over 65 and those with dementia or physical disabilities from all governing bodies, such as the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Moreover, we are working towards being accredited by St Luke’s Hospice 6 Steps + Programme.

By working hand in hand with the local community rehabilitation team and the Community Nursing team, we are able to offer outstanding care to all our residents, whether long-term or short-term. At The Lawns, our doors are always open to people in need of Residential & Nursing Care, Palliative Care, Dementia Care, and Respite & Rehab Care.
Our friendly, close-knit team of professionals, some of whom have been with us for nearly three decades, provides nursing care and relief to adults over 65 with long-term conditions, including Dementia, Huntington’s, Parkinson’s, Diabetes, Motor Neurone Diseases, and COPD.
In addition to a local surgery, where a doctor can be consulted Monday through Friday, our fully trained nurses are available round the clock. In each and every case, your rights to privacy and dignity are thoroughly guaranteed.

Reaching the time when a much loved family member needs to go into a care home is one of the most difficult decisions we have ever had to make.
When I realised that my husband needed more care than we could give him at home we did look at other homes. We are so pleased that we found The Lawns at Brixton.
Julian is treated with compassion, empathy, kindness and care from each and every one on Sam’s team. The team also go the extra mile by getting to know us as a family and have been very kind to us too.
