Our Care Home Activities in Brixton, Plymouth
At The Lawns, we host a weekly group activity, where an outside entertainer or service visits to provide entertainment for our residents. This includes a number of different musical acts, including a folk duo, a saxophone player, and a cabaret singer.
Music, Exercise & Pet Therapy
Our musical entertainers are experienced in entertaining elderly care home residents, focusing on songs and instrumentals that they will recognise and sing along to. The Folk Duo always encourages participation with tambourines and other percussive instruments.
We also have monthly exercise classes, provided by fully trained and licensed instructors from G-Fitness. This includes a mixture of chair exercises, ball throwing, dancing, and upper-body exercises. Facilitated in a fun way with music, all exercises can be scaled or amended to suit the needs of each individual.
We also arrange pet therapy from Animals2U, including a wide variety of animals, such as rabbits, cats, dogs, tortoises, and lizards. Residents are able to pet and handle the animals, which offers them a great deal of comfort.
More Entertainment at Our Care Home
Additionally, we have “pamper” days, where our activities coordinator will spend time giving manicures and painting nails. Bingo, Quizzes, and Games are organised, ensuring everyone can participate. Staff members also organise sing-alongs, which many residents enjoy.
Birthdays are always celebrated with a cake. During the Christmas season, we host a full programme of live entertainment, including pantomimes, plays, and various musical performances. Our dedicated coordinator provides regular 1:1 activities, and all staff are encouraged to interact with residents as much as possible. We welcome and encourage relatives to attend our sessions.
